Run raised big bucks for Special Olympians

North Bay’s Torch Run for Special Olympics has raised more than $3,000.   The final tally was $3,120.   The Canadian Royal Purple Society donated $2,000 and the remainder came from T-shirts sales and a barbeque.

In addition to 75 special athletes from North Bay, police departments from Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie joined their North Bay counterparts.  A one kilometre walk was added to this year’s Torch Run which saw participants run two kilometres in cool weather.

Other participants included the OPP, military police, paramedics and retired North Bay police officers.
