If you get an e-mail or text saying you`ve been picked as a mystery shopper, watch out. Area police departments are fielding complaints of people being told they`re a mystery shopper and as a reward they`re sent a cheque.
You`re asked to cash the cheque and after keeping a portion for yourself, you return the remainder to the sender. However the cheque is fake and once you cash it and give money away, you have to pay back the bank the full amount.
