A Progressive Conservative MPP from Northern Ontario says people can stop the Liberals from forcing us to switch to hydro from natural gas. Nipissing`s Vic Fedeli says people must call, e-mail or write their respective MPPs telling them they oppose the plan.
The switch to electric is contained in a Cabinet document and Fedeli says the fact it was leaked suggests not all Liberals like the idea. Fedeli says putting everyone on electricity would cost billions of dollars because more generating stations would be needed to meet increased power demands.
He believes the size of the current generating system we have would have to quadruple.
