The Mattawa River Canoe Races saw 56 teams from Ontario and Quebec take part for the 40th annual event. The overall trophy winners were an Ottawa woman and a man from Quebec.
In the Recreational Men’s B division, the winners were Sebastien Horth and Eric Filion both of North Bay. On the women’s side, Nicole Dupuis of Corbeil and Jeanne Cantin from Callander were the top winners.
The participants left North Bay and paddled 64 kilometres to Mattawa Island which included five portages.
