North Bay Jr. Varsity Bulldogs host playoff game Sunday

It’s already been a banner season so far for the North Bay Jr. Varsity Bulldogs, but the real season gets going this Sunday when the Bulldogs host the TNT Express from Barrie.

The Bulldogs finished first overall this season at 7-1, the first time a local team finished at the top of a provincial football league since 1967.

Asked about the achievement, head coach Marc Mathon said “it’s absolutely amazing what a group can accomplish if no one cares who gets the credit.”

On June 25th, the Bulldogs defeated the Express handily, 37-8, but Mathon knows his team can’t overlook this team saying “in the game before when we played them, they were only a yard here or a yard there away and they nearly scored deep on us so there’s an area of focus there that we need to bring to the game.”

The game gets going at 7PM at the Omischl Sports Complex. The other semi-final sees the Orangeville Outlaws taking on the Niagara Spears.
