Job vacancies on the rise in two local districts

September is showing a big jump in the amount of job vacancies locally for August. There were 519 vacancies posted in the Nipissing District for the month of August which came from a variety of print and online sources. This is a very large increase from the 421 vacancies in July and also an increase from the 463 vacancies seen in August of last year. The 519 vacancies were posted by 226 unique employers, 42 more than posted in the previous month. The top industry with vacancies at the moment is in Health Care and Social Services at 21.2 per cent.

There were 135 vacancies recorded in the Parry Sound District for the month of August. This represents an 11.6 per cent increase from the 121 vacancies posted in July and significantly higher than the 109 vacancies found in August of 2015. The Labour Market Group is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development and is part of the Employment Ontario Network.
