Battalion will have all hands on deck Friday

The Calgary Flames have re-assigned North Bay Battalion Captain Riley Bruce back to the OHL. Assistant Captain Cam Dineen was also re-assigned to North Bay today.

The two defenceman, along with forwards Brett McKenzie and Justin Brazeau missed the season opening loss against Niagara. The four veterans will provide an added boost to a Battalion team that struggled on Friday night. Head Coach Stan Butler has made it clear if 2nd and 3rd year players don’t improve and fast, they won’t be in North Bay much longer.

Well, the competition has just jumped up a notch. Bruce and McKenzie, 7th round picks by the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks respectively are in their 4th OHL seasons. Dineen, a 3rd round pick of the Arizona Coyotes, and Brazeau are entering their second seasons with the Troops.

The opponent tomorrow is the Kitchener Rangers. A team that won 44 games a year ago and also won their season opener 4-2 against the Flint Firebirds. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm at Memorial Gardens.
