The 50 Million Trees program, through Forests Ontario, is offering residents in North Bay the chance to combat climate change through planting trees.
Forests Ontario will connect you with a local field advisor who will work with you to create a plan that suits your property’s unique needs. Whether planting windbreaks on your farm, stream edges to improve wildlife habitat or reclaiming marginal land, trees can help improve the value of property. In addition, trees also help retain water in the soil, and they provide shade, which reduces evaporation. These are big benefits, especially following a hot, dry summer.
Landowners with a minimum of 2.5 acres of plantable land may be eligible for a generous tree planting incentive program delivered by Forests Ontario. They are able to access funding support of up to 75 per cent of total planting costs as well as practical support and ongoing forest management assistance.
