West Ferris 63’s Compete in Cambridge Ringette tournament

The West Ferris 63’s U12 and U16 Regional Teams and the U19 Provincial Team travelled to the Cambridge Ringette tournament this past weekend.  The 63’s U12 Regional Team ended up first in their division defeating all three competitors in the round robin play. They met up with Etobicoke in the finals, defeating them 13-10 to bring home the gold.

The U16’s lost to a host Cambridge team 6-1 in their first game, however, bounced back strong on Saturday winning their next 2 games which led them to the gold medal game on Sunday where they eventually settled for a silver medal, falling to a physically strong Cambridge squad (8-3).

The U19A team came on strong at the beginning of the tournament with a decisive 7-2 win against the Cambridge Turbos. Their second game was against a fast skating team from Alberta. It was a close game that ended up in a 5-3 loss for the 63s. On Saturday, the team was back in the win column with a 9-1 win against Missauga but fell short against Kitchener later on in the day. The two wins ensured the team a spot in the semis where they faced the Alberta Sting once more. Both teams came out determined to win with Alberta scoring the winning goal late in the game to beat the 63s 3-2.
