Latest snow survey from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority shows above seasonal snow depth

Snow depth and water content continues to measure above the seasonal average at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority snow survey sites as part of its flood forecasting program. Water Resources Specialist Joel Harrison says the light, fluffy snow contributes to the depth we’re seeing in the snow level.

The current average snow depth is 47.3 centimetres, compared to last year at this time when the snow depth was only 24.8 centimetres. Harrison says water content is up from their last survey but it’s too early in the season to predict what the spring thaw will look like when the snow melts.
