North Bay man arrested for stealing a piggy bank, and a handful of scratch tickets

North Bay Police have arrested a 36-year- old North Bay man after he stole a piggy bank off the counter of a local restaurant just before 6:00pm last night. The female owner of the restaurant chased the man towards Seventh Avenue where she grabbed his coat. Police say the man then pushed the owner to the ground, fled the scene, and was arrested later on Cassells Street.

Also according to police, early on Monday morning lottery tickets were stolen from the front counter of four convenience stores by the same man. He played one of the stolen scratch tickets in front of the cashier, “won” $50 and redeemed the winnings of the stolen ticket from the cashier. Then he took a remote control drone that was on display and left without paying for it.

The man is facing one count of robbery, four counts of theft under $5000 and five counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
