Funding announced for new Post Production Centre at Canadore College

MP Anthony Rota announced today $875,000 will be invested to help Canadore College establish a Post Production Centre at its main campus in North Bay. The facility will help to address the immediate and growing needs of the film industry in Northern Ontario. The funding will be used to purchase and install the technology and equipment needed to ensure the centre is state-of-the-art and fully equipped to allow full service to the film and TV industry.

Once complete, the 5,588-square-foot facility will feature a post-production theatre and studios for colour correction, recording, dialogue replacement, and sound mixing. The film industry is arguably the fastest growing industry in the city, with actors and crews from around the world coming here to work on projects.

Rota says this will make North Bay known as a hot spot for the film and TV industry, not just the gateway to Northern Ontario. He says this is helping to put the North Bay area on the map, as well as foster a lot of new job creation in the city. Rota says Canadore is a leader in technology and innovation. He finished by saying today’s announcement will ensure the college is well positioned to meet the immediate and long term needs of its students and industry partners. The centre is expected to be up and running by September of 2017.
