Powassan Voodoos unable to slow down Kirkland Lake in loss to Gold Miners

The Powassan Voodoos fell 2-1 to the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners last night, with Kevin Ford scoring the winner with 6:07 remaining in regulation. The victory snapped a two-game winning streak for the Voodoos, and extended Kirkland Lake’s winning streak to six straight games.

A Gary Mantz goal opened the scoring for the Voodoos in the second period, but the next two goals in the third belonged to the Gold Miners. Andrew Suriano took the loss for the Voodoos, allowing two goals against on 23 shots.

Powassan travels to Espanola on Friday to take on the Express, currently sitting dead last in the NOJHL’s West Division.
