Approved realignment brings Housing Corporation under DNSSAB’s umbrella

The Nipissing District Social Services Administration Board has approved a realignment that desegregates DNSSAB’s services provided by the Nipissing District Housing Corporation. That means social housing in the North Bay area is going to be directly managed by the NDHC going forward.

DNSSAB CAO, Joe Bradbury says this action allows for further alignment with the Nipissing District 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan, and further provides the improved integration and delivery of human services across the District. Bradbury says at this point, there will be no significant changes for operational staff and that any staffing changes will happen as a result of retirement or attrition.

DNSSAB Chair, Mark King says with a desire for more integrated services, this decision was a tough but timely and important one. King says on behalf of the DNSSAB, he expresses their sincere gratitude to the dedicated people who sat on the housing corporation’s board, and they greatly appreciate their contributions to serving the citizens of the Nipissing District.

As part of this progression the DNSSAB has made the decision to assign a governance structure contained within the current Housing Committee of the DNSSAB. Under the new governance structure, social housing will be overseen by DSSAB’s current housing committee, which according to the release will support broader social systems thinking and approaches that serve the needs of communities, individuals and families.
