Water Conservation status in South River extended for 24 hours

A mandatory water conservation status for South River has been extended for an additional 24 hours. The extension is the result of a leak in the water distribution system east of the railway tracks. South River Public Works crews are continuing to try to locate the exact location of the leak. The water conservation status will remain in effect until Friday, March 17th at 4:00pm.

Officials say this isn’t a health issue, the water coming from the treatment plant is safe to drink, but a limited quantity is available. The water levels in the reserves are continuing to drop and a failure to participate in conserving water could result in reserves being depleted. They ask you only use water as necessary.
