2016 was a successful year for the Capitol Centre

The Capitol Centre reflected on a successful year in 2016 at their annual general meeting. At Tuesday night’s meeting, a small surplus of $1,268 on a $1.7-million budget was reported. During 2016, 35,369 tickets were sold for events that generated $894,669 in revenue, which was a drop of about 1,300 compared to 2015. All together over 160 events took place at the Capitol Centre during 2016, including North Bay Symphony Performances, and community rentals like TOROS and Les Compagnons for Le Carnaval.

President of the Board of Directors Micheal Roth says that 2016 was an exciting and eventful year, and as always the Capitol Centre was North Bay’s central hub for visual and performing arts. Roth added they strive to be an organization that is open and welcoming to all people of all backgrounds from this great city and beyond. He finished by saying they take great pains to attempt to ensure there’s something for everyone, whether that is a concert, a play, a dance recital, an exhibition or a Sunday Movie.

Executive Director Dee Adrian says 2016 has been a very successful year for the Capitol Centre, and that they can’t say enough good things about everyone who has contributed. Adrian says the highest selling day in the Box Office last year was April 1st when the local dance studio Dance Expressions went on sale with their recital and sales totalled a whopping $18,686, surpassing Burton Cummings by $8,000.
