Powassan Voodoos hit the ice at the Dudley-Hewitt Cup tonight

The Powassan Voodoos kickoff off the Dudley-Hewitt Cup tonight against the host Trenton Golden Hawks at 7:30 pm. After that the Voodoos will take on the Dryden GM Ice Dogs tomorrow at 2:30pm, and the Georgetown Raiders on Thursday at 2:30pm. Head coach Scott Wray says they’re not very familiar with their opponents other than watching tape, but that shouldn’t change their approach after going undefeated in the NOJHL playoffs.

Powassan won 12 straight games to capture their initial Copeland Cup – McNamara Trophy championship. Gary Mantz led the Voodoos offensively during the playoffs with 24 points, and his two points-per-game average led all NOJHL skaters. Parker Bowman and Tyson Gilmour chipped in 20 points apiece, and Bowman was ultimately named the NOJHL playoff MVP. Voodoos’ goaltender Nate McDonald was unbeatable during the run to the league title. McDonald, like the team in front of him, went a perfect 12-0 and led the NOJHL in both goals-against average and save percentage at 1.84 and .933 respectively.

3 of the 4 teams at the Dudley-Hewitt make the playoffs, with the top team earning a bye into the final.
