Premier Kathleen Wynne has released a strongly worded letter she’s sent to the nine Matawa Nations that stand to gain from the Ring of Fire. Wynne tells the First Nation Chiefs there needs to be meaningful progress on road and infrastructure issues in the next several weeks. The Premier’s letter shows there’s concern among the stakeholders over things like road ownership and land management. Wynne tells the Chiefs three years ago the Liberals committed $1 billion for infrastructure at the Ring of Fire. She says if the government is expected to deliver on that commitment, there can’t be any further delays. Wynne says she’s ready to meet with whichever First Nations want to talk about transportation infrastructure.
