Police warning drivers to be careful ahead of the long weekend

The North Bay OPP wants to see drivers, boaters and trail users take charge of how they behave behind the wheel this weekend, to keep the roads and waterways safe. In a release, members of the OPP say they are expecting to see lots of people hit the roads, trails and waterways.

On May 16th, the 2017 Canada Road Safety Week Initiative began for the OPP and remains in effect until May 22nd with a focus on the Big Four. The Big Four includes impaired driving, driving without a seat belt on, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

All drivers and boaters this weekend are reminded to be careful, and avoid any sort of dangerous driving that puts people’s lives at risk. The OPP also wants drivers to be aware of Ontario’s Move Over law that requires drivers to slow down and move over when passing an emergency vehicle on the shoulder of the road.
