The Progressive Conservatives are attacking the Wynne Liberals after the Financial Accountability Officer showed the government plan to cut hydro by 25 percent will cost an additional $21-billion in the years ahead. Tory leader Patrick Brown says the Premier has to admit that her Fair Hydro Plan will in fact cost Ontarians a lot more money. The Tories claim that by 2028 annual hydro rates will jump 12 percent a year. They also say the Liberals plan to bring back the debt retirement charge. The PCs say the Hydro plan is all about the Liberals trying to get themselves re-elected next year by lowering rates in the short term.
Like the Tories, the New Democratic Party says the Fair Hydro Plan is an effort by the Liberals to get re-elected. The NDP say the Liberals will try to do this at the expense of everyone else.  The NDP say their plan to re-gain ownership of Hydro One can fix the broken electricity system. The party was reacting to the Financial Accountability Officer’s report on the cost of the Fair Hydro Plan.
