Lots of charges handed out by the North Bay OPP over the long weekend

It was a busy long weekend for the North Bay OPP, as they wrapped up their participation in the Canada Road Safety Campaign as well as the long weekend Provincial Traffic Safety Program. Both campaigns were focused on the big four which includes impaired, aggressive, and inattentive driving as well as not wearing a seatbelt.

Police handed out 138 speed charges, 7 distracted driving charges, three failing to yield charges and three seatbelt related charges. They also handed out four charges related to impaired driving, a careless driving charge, and a street racing charge.

While the campaigns have wrapped up, the OPP wants drivers to keep safety in mind at all times when driving, boating or hitting the trails.
