Armed Forces Day celebrations happening in the city

It’s Armed Forces Day in North Bay, and the SkyHawks, the Snowbirds and the CF-18 demonstration team have all touched down in town. As a result, from 8:00am until 3:00pm Aviation Avenue will be closed to traffic, with only designated vehicles like school buses allowed through.

Parking on Airport Road will be very limited, so public parking will only be available in established areas near Jack Garland Airport. Regular buses and free shuttle buses will be taking people from Memorial Gardens to the Canadore College Aviation Campus and back again starting at 8:30am until 4:00pm.

Officials say they’re expecting around 4,000 students at the campus today. Then tomorrow is the lead-up to Canada 150 with events at the waterfront, including performances from the Skyhawks, the Snowbirds and the CF-18 demonstration team. Saturday will also include musical performances from the Hidden Roots Collective, Cory Marquardt and Lighthouse.
