Silver Birches Elementary School students from Grades 2 to 6 have been busy working together planting apple trees in their schoolyard. That was made possible through an Edible Tree Grant through Tree Canada.
School officials say not only will students benefit from the increased shade the trees will provide, but they will have access to the growing fruit and outdoor learning opportunities right in their own backyard.
Students will celebrate the fruits of their labour with their school community tomorrow at 12:30pm during a Bring Your Parents to Lunch event.
