North Bay Triathlon Weekend will look a little different this year

The Kiwanis Club of Nipissing has announced its annual North Bay Triathlon Weekend will have a few changes. Race Director Nancy Birtch says their committee decided to free up the Saturday to encourage families to participate in CANADA 150 activities and host the triathlon on the Sunday and Monday mornings this year. Plenty of individual and team registrations have signed up for the Sunday Adult Triathlon as the registration deadline nears, and competitors are looking forward to the course change this year.

Birtch says knowing of the road work repairs on Four Mile Lake Road, they shifted their focus to develop an alternate bike route for 2017. She says after the lake swim, cyclists will travel up Highway 63 to Peninsula Road and proceed to Northshore Road, and then follow the curves and hills to the end and return to the transition area to finish with the run. Birtch added a number of positive comments have been received already about the course changes.

The Kids Triathlon is set for Monday, July 3rd. Kiwanis Race Director Brandi Venne is expecting another strong turnout for this year’s event. She says they have the same four age groups as in previous years from six years to 15 years participating at Olmsted Beach and around the Armstrong Park neighbourhood. People can visit www.kiwanisnipissing.com to register prior to June 28th for one of the three events: Adult (includes the team tri), Try a Tri (for Teens and Adults) or Kids Triathlon.
