NHL draft eligible Battalion players shut out over the weekend

217 players were selected at the NHL draft over the weekend, but not a single North Bay Battalion player was chosen. Defenceman Brady Lyle was rated 46th in the final North American Central Scouting rankings, but didn’t hear his name called. Lyle did however secure a camp invite from the Anaheim Ducks. He wrote on Twitter that while the draft didn’t go the way Lyle had hoped, he’s thankful to have walked away with a great opportunity from the Ducks.

Swedish Import defenceman Adam Thilander was rated 96th by NHL Central Scouting in North America, but wasn’t picked and hasn’t received a camp invite to this point. Thilander had six goals and 29 assists for 35 points in his rookie season with the Troops. Winger Justin Brazeau was in his second summer of eligibility, but the New Liskeard native is in the same boat as Thilander. Last summer he received a free agent invitation to the Detroit Red Wings summer prospects camp.
