Members from the North Bay MNRF heading to BC to help battle wildfires

Four firefighters and two supervisors from the North Bay Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are heading out west to help the battle against ongoing wildfires in British Columbia. As of today, more than 10,000 people have been forced from their homes and 10,000 more are on alert.

On Tuesday, twelve new fires were sparked which are just a fraction of the more than 100 that broke out each day last weekend. Currently there are about 200 fires burning province-wide in BC. The North Bay crew is part of a 78-person contingent that left Sudbury on Tuesday, just over half of the 146 Ontario-wide ministry contribution sent this week. Also sent were 100 pumps and 5,000 lengths of water hose.
