Police locate body of man who went missing in Ottawa River

The Mattawa OPP has found the body of 40-year-old Arthur Lavoie who went missing on July 15th in the Ottawa River. Police received a call from BAYSAR Search and Rescue on Saturday morning about what they believed was a floating person.

At that point, the North Bay OPP Marine Unit went to the scene and recovered the body from the river. The OPP had been searching for Lavoie since he went missing, and stated the Ottawa River posed many challenges to the search team due to treacherous conditions in the water.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Sudbury.
