North Bay man facing several assault charges after arrest

A 30-year-old North Bay man has been arrested for assault following a string of incidents over the past few months. Police say on July 18th, the man was socializing at an Oak Street home when he got into an argument with a woman and was asked to leave. Instead of leaving, he assaulted her and forced her take flee to a nearby neighbour’s house. The woman asked they call police, and eventually was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While police were investigating the incident, they learned that between May 25th and June 10th the man had entered a home on Cassells Street demanding drugs and assaulted another man inside. Between June 15th and June 25th, the man went back to the same Cassells Street home and assaulted same person a second time. This time, he pulled out a knife and cut him. Police say then on July 19th he visited a Fisher Street home and assaulted the same victim a third time, who received non-life threatening injuries.

The man was finally arrested by police on July 23rd and is facing four counts of assault, and one count of aggravated assault. Police are asking anyone who might have more information about other incidents involving the man to contact Constable McClenaghan or Constable Thomas at 705-497-5555.
