Job postings in June up 17.8 per cent in Nipissing

There were 484 job vacancies recorded for Nipissing District throughout the month of June, according to the latest report from the Labour Market Group. That figure is a jump of 17.8 per cent over May, an increase of 73 job postings.

Looking back one year, the June 2016 report showed 445 vacancies, accounting for an 8.8 per cent increase as compared to this June.

There were 207 unique employers looking for positions to be filled in this June’s report. Of the 484 openings, 458 or 94.6 per cent were found online, 82 or 16.9 per cent were searching for a bilingual employee, and 123 or 25.4 per cent required a driver’s licence of some type as a stipulation for hiring.

The top five employers in Nipissing to post vacancies in June were Statistics Canada, HGS Canada, the YMCA, Zedd Customer Solutions, and Stock Transportation.

According to the Labour Market Group report, the top five industries hiring for this period were Health Care & Social Assistance, Retail Trade, Public Administration, Admin & Support, Waste Management & Remediation Services, and Accommodation & Food Services.

Health Care & Social Assistance positions, including openings for personal support workers, dietary aides, and early childhood educators accounted for 13.2 per cent of all vacancies in Nipissing District in June.
