Food Bank and Walmart team up to fight hunger

The North Bay Food Bank received over $10,200 from the local Walmart employees and customers. Walmart Canada topped that amount up with a $2,000 contribution of their own. A grand total of $12,244.98 has been donated to the local charity as part of the Walmart Canada campaign to “Fight Hunger Spark Change.”

Manager Amber Livingstone said that the Food Bank currently receives dried goods and food as donations from the local Walmart on a regular basis, but the cash donation was unexpected. Livingstone pointed out that the contribution from Walmart is timely as summer is tough for the charity as donations tend to be lower at this time of year.

The North Bay Food Bank is available to accept food and monetary donations year round. The food bank is located at 1016 Fisher Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. For more information, call the North Bay Food Bank at 705-495-3290.
