The Toronto Police Service has released security camera captures of a man investigators say accompanied Tess Richey to the scene of her murder and then left alone.

Police had revealed a description of the man (white, slim, between 5’7″ and 6′ tall, with dark-coloured short hair), but no photos until the weekend. At a press conference Friday, Detective Sergeant Graham Gibson also added that the suspect had been wearing a dark coat and light pants to the description.

According to security footage, police say that Richey and the friend she had gone out with met the suspect at a hot dog cart in a busy pedestrian area at Church and Wellesley East. The three then walked north on Church to Dundonald Street, where they interacted for some time with a male and a female.

Police say Richey’s friend left to go home around 4:00am and the male and female they had encountered also left the area. Richey and the suspect then walked a short distance to the alley area where her body was eventually found by her mother four days later.

Gibson says that Richey is never again seen on any video footage, nor by any witnesses. “The suspect left the area of the stairwell and is last seen walking northbound on Church Street.”
