First Nation proposes Ring of Fire rail link

A James Bay area First Nation could get the ball rolling on the Ring of Fire.  The Mushkegowuk  First Nation has an idea to build an east-west rail link from Mooseonee to the Ring of Fire.  The line would go through the reserve’s territory and include a high-voltage energy transmission line but it’s not known if this means building a smelter to process the chromite on site.  Chief Lawrence Martin has talked to other First Nation chiefs in the far north and other groups and the idea is getting traction.  One of the biggest hurdles getting the Ring of Fire off the ground has been a transportation link to the site.
