According to a former Future Shop employee in North Bay, the entire sales staff has been let go as the store transitions into a Best Buy. Mark Hoffman worked as a the lead Auto Tech at the store and was given no option to stay when the news became public on Saturday. He had been an employee with Future Shop for 6 and a 1/2 years. He says the only employees that were kept on the payroll include customer service workers, some warehouse employees, and computer tech. Â Hoffman adds that he was given a fair severance package from Best Buy Canada.
Future Shop is closed right now and will reopen as a Best Buy on April 4th. An estimated 500-1000 full and part-time jobs will be eliminated across the country as a result of the consolidation.
