Next Era Energy Canada is proposing a 75 megawatt solar farm for North Bay. The project would cover 375 acres making it one of the largest solar farms in Ontario.
The company is holding a public consultation on July 29th at the Caldwell Ellen Community Centre on Carruthers from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p.m. Another meeting takes place August 14th.
It’s the province and not city council that approves the project. For now council is supporting the solar farm in principal.
If approved, the solar farm would be built on an old lumber yard on McGruthers Road.
