North Bay casino proposal worries Blue Sky Bingo

There’s concern in North Bay how a casino could hurt bingo.  Janet Zimbalatti, a spokeswoman for Blue Sky Bingo, believes a casino would hurt bingo revenues.

Zimbalatti says the organization helps 57 charities in town including 26 sports and youth groups.  She wants city council to do an impact study and look at the effects a casino would have on local charities.

Zimbalatti adds if the study shows a casino is viable in the long-term, then Blue Sky Bingo has a request of council.  It wants council to consider putting a share of its revenue toward the charities to bring them to a level before the casino open in the city.

Blue Sky Bingo generates about 1.2 million dollars for local charities.  North Bay is one of several northern cities OLG is considering where a casino should operate.
