A traffic enforcement campaign is taking place Thursday in the city.
The North Bay Police Service is partnering with the OPP and MTO for the initiative, with a focus on speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt usage and unsafe vehicles.
Police say extra resources will be deployed during the campaign, and offenders can expect fines and demerit points, if convicted, depending on the offence.
Some fines for Highway Traffic Act infractions are as follows:
· Disobey Stop Sign – $110
· No seat belt – $240
· Speeding – 10 km over = $40, 20 km over = $95, 30 km over = $220
· Careless Driving – $400
· Fail to Stop for School Bus $490
· Drive – Handheld Communication Device – $615
· Operate Unsafe Vehicle – No Set Fine (court date to determine fine)
