Alcohol sales expansion starting earlier than expected

New alcoholic beverage options are coming sooner than expected to a grocery store near you.

The province says it has bumped up the next step in its plan to give people in Ontario ‘more choice and convenience’.

Officials say licensed grocery stores will be able to order ready-to-drink beverages and large beer pack sizes starting July 18, and start selling them as soon as they arrive.

That moves up the province’s expansion timeline from the originally planned August 1st start-up.

It involves 450 grocery stores that are currently licensed to sell beer, cider or wine.
