The new Rotary Playground next to the Splash Pad is nearing completion.

The city says it will open once the play surface is poured.
“A specialized rubber with extra cushioning is required due to the height of the structure and the supplier is currently awaiting a shipment,” says Gord Young, communications officer with the city. “We expect the play surface to be poured in August.”
Earlier this year, officials said the nautical-themed playground will feature two free-standing play structures — a logging boat and lighthouse.
Along with the accessible rubber safety surface, it includes a sensory play centre, seating areas, lighting and landscaping.
August will also see a new playground installed at Belleview Park.
Earlier this month, the city said parks staff were getting ready to remove the existing equipment to allow for the new installation.
“The new inclusive playground structure will include some components that are fully accessible,” reads a July 4 social media post. “It will also include an engineered wood fibre play surface, an accessible paved path and accessible shade tables.”
