After a 15-year hiatus, the Northern Ontario Division (NOD) ski racing team will be back on the slopes this winter.
Six North Bay Ski Racing Club (NBSRC) athletes, from North Bay and Mattawa, have accepted their nomination to the team.
They include:
- Lauren Moore, U16 female
- Wyatt Wasylciw, U16 male
- Finley Prisco, U14 female
- Lexine Gauthier, U14 female
- Grant Park, U14 male
- Thomas Chute, U14 male
Officials say several past team racers have had podium finishes at the national and World Cup level.
They include North Bay’s Kate Pace Lindsay, who won six World Cup medals and three Canadian downhill championships, and Kathy Kreiner, a 1976 Olympic gold medallist, from Timmins.
“Congratulations to all the athletes who worked hard on and off the snow to receive this nomination,” says, John Prosperi, NOD Director of Athlete Development. “I’m really excited about having the NOD team back and the opportunities this brings for more northern Ontario athletes reaching the podium.”

Along with the North Bay area, athletes from Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury will kick-off the on-snow season with two-weeks of training in Alberta in November.
That will be followed by a busy season of training and races around Ontario, along with a series of provincial, national and international events.
“We are fortunate to have a great team of athletes and coaches in the north who are committed to working hard, having fun and becoming champions”, says Jenna De Genova, Head Coach for NBSRC. “I’m confident that together this group will continue to challenge each other and grow as athletes and teammates.”
The team will be providing updates on the team throughout the season on social media.
