City police crack down on outstanding warrants

An enhanced enforcement campaign targeting outstanding warrants has resulted in 53 people being arrested by city police.

The North Bay Police Service says the initiative ran throughout the month of June.

127 charges were laid.

Police say most of them related to failures to comply with release orders, undertakings, or probation and failures to appear in court.

Additional charges included arson, assault, break & enter, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of a motor vehicle, among others.

“Thanks to the diligent work of our officers, these individuals who were evading arrest are now being held accountable for their criminal conduct,” says Jeff Warner, Inspector of Operations. “Our officers will continue to track down those who attempt to avoid the consequences of their criminal acts.”

Anyone with any information about someone with an outstanding arrest warrant is asked to contact the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and press 5 to speak with an officer.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nearnorthcrimestoppers.com
