Two collisions on Highway 11 in Callander Friday morning

The North Bay OPP reports two people face charges after separate collisions on Highway 11 in Callander Friday morning.

Police report a tow truck driver, a 32-year-old from Powassan, was charged for careless driving after colliding with a Commercial Motor Vehicle while hauling an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser.

The OPP says emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 5:30 am.

According to police, the tow truck struck the rear of the tractor trailer.

They say the tow truck driver received minor injuries with all vehicles sustaining extensive damages.

The highway was re-opened at approximately 11 am.

Meantime, a North Bay resident is facing careless and impaired driving charges after a crash earlier Friday morning closed Highway 11.

The OPP says officers responded to a crash in Callander around 3:45 am involving an automobile and a tractor trailer unit.

The OPP says the driver of the vehicle, who received minor injuries, was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The 37-year-old is scheduled to appear at the North Bay Courthouse in October.
