Caisse Alliance contributes to Callander Lighthouse solar panels

Caisse Alliance has invested $50,000 in Callander.

On Thursday, the cooperative announced the money went towards the installation of solar panels as part of the Farquhar Island Lighthouse reconstruction project.

“This infrastructure project is an excellent investment that enhances the safety of our fellow citizens in Lake Nipissing’s Callander Bay and restores the community’s emblem,” says Grégoire Lefebvre, Chair of the Board of Directors of Caisse Alliance.

The lighthouse toppled in 2006 and has since been rebuilt near the marina, is operational and officially recognized by the Canadian Coast Guard.

“This project, which was initiated by Callander residents Ryan and Erin Farquhar and made possible with the support of committed partners, is a prime example of community cooperation and is invaluable to all Callander residents and Lake Nipissing users,” says Mathieu Shank, Regional Manager of Caisse Alliance, Nipissing East Region.

The $50,000 was allocated through the Caisse Alliance Fund and the Green Fund, mainly managed by a Board of Directors and the regional cooperative committees.

“As a socio-economic player, the Caisse is committed to the sustainable development of its regions and is proud to support community projects such as the Farquhar Island Lighthouse, which have a positive long-term impact,” says Pierre Dorval, President and CEO of Caisse Alliance. “I would like to congratulate all parties involved in this monumental initiative that further heightens the region’s history.”
