Charges filed after vehicles clocked 33 and 44 km over posted limit

The OPP reports a couple of vehicles were recently stopped on Highway 11 in the Powassan area, and the drivers charged with speeding.

A traffic stop in South Himsworth resulted in police charging a 24-year-old resident of Midland with Highway Traffic Act and cannabis-related counts. This after police say a vehicle was spotted travelling at 144 kilometres per hour in a posted 100 km/h zone.

In the other traffic stop, a 27-year-old driver from B.C. was charged after the OPP says a tractor trailer was clocked going 133 kilometres per hour in a posted 100 km/h zone.

Along with the driver being charged, the company has been charged with allowing a commercial vehicle without a working speed-limiting system to operate in Ontario.
