Two city residents facing drug trafficking charges near New Liskeard

A shoplifting incident at a business in the New Liskeard area and a subsequent traffic stop has led to drug trafficking charges for four people, including two from North Bay.

Temiskaming OPP say an off-duty police officer arrested one person on Monday afternoon while two people fled in a vehicle and another hid in the store.

The vehicle was located and stopped by police, with two people arrested.

Suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl with a street value of $112,000 was seized, according to the OPP.

The fourth person was arrested later.

All four, including a 38-year-old city man and a 36-year-old woman from North Bay, have court appearances in Haileybury on Sept. 6.
