Over $6.5 million in provincial funding is going towards community infrastructure upgrades in Nipissing.
MPP Vic Fedeli announced the 2025 funding allotments for 11 municipalities in the riding.
North Bay receives the bulk of the money, over $5.4 million.
However, it’s down about $300,000 from the city’s 2024 allotment.
“This funding will play a critical role in supporting the City’s 2025 capital budget, helping to advance core infrastructure projects,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “We extend our sincere thanks to the Province of Ontario and MPP Fedeli for their continued support in strengthening our community.”
Fedeli says the funding will be delivered in 2025 through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).
“The Ontario government understands that current supply chain challenges and inflation have placed tremendous pressure on all governments, including our community partners in Nipissing,” says Fedeli. “That’s why Ontario began investing an additional $1 billion for OCIF over five years, which began in 2022. The province will continue to work with its municipal partners to make investments in our infrastructure and keep it reliable so we can continue creating jobs and growing the economy here at home.”
Funding allocations are as follows:
- City of North Bay – $5,409,448
- Municipality of Callander – $131,681
- Municipality of East Ferris – $100,000
- Municipality of Powassan – $125,731
- Town of Mattawa – $168,076
- Township of Bonfield – $115,000
- Township of Calvin – $100,000
- Township of Chisholm – $100,502
- Township of Mattawan – $100,000
- Township of Nipissing – $129,155
- Township of Papineau-Cameron – $100,000
“The Municipality of Powassan is very pleased to receive our 2025 OCIF funding,” says Mayor Peter McIsaac. “We would like to thank the provincial government for increasing the funding and partnering with communities in funding our infrastructure projects.”
