Province to honour those who provide services to victims of crime

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024/25 Attorney General’s Victim Services Awards of Distinction.

Recipients will be honoured next spring.

Gillian MacIntosh, a full-time handler and developer of the Trauma Support K9 Program for Victim Services of Nipissing District was honoured in 2022/23 with her K9 partner, a Labrador retriever named Chewie (pictured above).

Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP says the deadline for nominations is Friday, Nov. 29.

“Our government is seeking nominations for the Attorney General’s Victim Services Awards of Distinction to recognize exceptional achievements in service to people who have experienced victimization due to crime,” says Fedeli. “It also honours the courageous efforts of individuals who have been personally impacted by crime and are now working to raise the profile of victims’ issues in Ontario to help make their communities stronger.”

Officials say the person or group being nominated must agree to the nomination.

The nomination package, including the nomination form and instructions is available on the Ministry of Attorney General’s website Victim Services Awards of Distinction.
