Some final touches are all that remains of the city’s Making Over Main Street project.
The final block of the project, between Fraser and Cassells Streets reopened late last week to both vehicles and pedestrians.
“All fencing and traffic control barricades have been removed, allowing for full access to the revitalized area,” states a release.
The remaining work includes landscape furniture placement and the installation of the handrails on the block between Ferguson and Fraser streets (pictured above).
It’s expected to be completed by mid-November.
The nearly $9 million project saw the reconstruction of above-ground infrastructure like roads, curbs, crosswalks and more.
Work was done in phases between Sherbrooke and Cassells streets and began in May 2023.
It’s the first major rehabilitation of Main Street in 40 years.
