Country 90.5 and 106.3 Jet FM (Vista Radio) have been awarded with the Community Service Award by the Ontario Association of Broadcasters.
At the association’s annual conference and award ceremony Thursday, which celebrates the best station-led promotions across Ontario, Vista Radio was honoured for its “Big Camp Adventure” campaign.
The initiative included a competition between 106.3 Jet FM morning host Mike Monaghan and Country 90.5 FM morning host Kevin Oschefski, designed to raise funds for the YMCA’s “Fill the Bus” campaign in partnership with the Rotary Club of North Bay.
The campaign’s aim was to ensure financial constraints wouldn’t prevent local children from enjoying YMCA camps.
For every $275 donation a child was guaranteed a seat on the bus to camp, with $71,000 raised.
“We are extremely proud of our friends and community partners at Vista Radio,” says Nicole Beattie, Vice President of Philanthropy, Marketing and Communications at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario. “The tremendous success of the 2023 YMCA Fill the Bus Campaign would not have been possible without the team at Vista Radio. We look forward to continuing our partnership to help even more kids ignite their potential through transformative camp experiences.”
The promotion featured live on-air competitions, community engagement, storytelling, and more.
“This award is a true testament to Vista Radio’s dedication to the North Bay community,” says Grace Doiron, President of The Rotary Club of North Bay. “We are deeply grateful for their continued support in helping more kids experience Rotary’s YMCA Camp Tillicum. Thanks to their generosity, more children will learn valuable life skills, build confidence, and grow into thriving, successful adults.”
This year’s “Big Camp Adventure” takes place next week.
