Four area tourism initiatives are receiving nearly $60,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP says the investment will promote tourism and travel, strengthen businesses and cultural organizations, and boost the regional economy in Northeastern Ontario.
$15,000 each goes to the North Bay Film Festival, Tourism North Bay’s Winter Market and the Northern Ontario Regional Tourism Organization for the Northern Ontario Tourism Summit, being held this week in North Bay.
“By investing in Nipissing’s events, together with our partners we are increasing our community profile and attracting positive economic spin-offs,” says Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing.
The film festival was held this past weekend, and the fourth and final winter market for this year takes place this coming Saturday.
The Powassan Fall Fair, meantime, receives over $13,500.
“The funding from NOHFC greatly assisted the society in the purchasing of bleachers, providing much-needed increased seating capacity for the horse pulls and demolition derby,” says Isabel Topps, Director, Powassan Agricultural Society. “The Officers, Board of Directors and members are very thankful for the funding.”
