Nearly $8.3 million in school capital projects approved at NNDSB

21 capital projects are lined up at schools at the Near North Board this year.

The list was approved by trustees last week.

It includes 10 school condition improvement projects totalling $4.9 million and 11 school renewal projects worth over $3.3 million.

Projects include everything from roof repairs or replacement to HVAC upgrades, repairs to stairs and entrances, electrical upgrades and more. The board says the projected costs exceed provincial funding amounts, but it has enough unspent capital funds available to cover them.

  • Chippewa Gym – Roof Repair
  • Evergreen – HVAC Upgrade
  • F.J. McElligott – Library Floor Replacement – Phase 1 and 2
  • Mapleridge – HVAC Upgrade
  • M.T. Davidson – HVAC Upgrade
  • Northern – Metal Cladding
  • Silver Birches – Roof Repair
  • South River – HVAC Upgrade
  • Sundridge – Electrical Base Board Replacement
  • Whitestone – Fire Alarm System Upgrades

 

School Renewal: $3,377,118

  • Almaguin – Gym Floor Replacement
  • Almaguin – Septic System Replacement – Phase 1
  • Britt – Stair and Ramp Replacement
  • F.J. McElligott – Main Entrance Refit
  • Mapleridge – Accessibility Study
  • Silver Birches – Site Upgrades
  • Vincent Massey – Main Entrance and Stairs Repair
  • Vincent Massey – Pumping Station Upgrade – Study
  • West Ferris – Front Entrance Stair Replacement
  • Whitestone – Electrical Service Upgrades
  • Woodland – Library Classroom Noise Dampening
